PS4 Will Out-Power PCs For Years To Come, Says Avalanche Studios
Goggles? Check. Gloves? Check. Boots? Check. Flameproof jockstrap? Double check. Let the console wars begin. Avalanche Studios' CTO and co-founder Linus Blomberg had some interesting things to say about Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4 and his words will surely incite the furious wrath of the PC Master Race, because he went and did something you never do: say a console is more powerful than a PC.
Gamingbolt is moving up in the world and managed to get a juicy quote from Blomberg while discussing a number of hot topics. They have the full interview but we're not really concerned with that...this article is all about the PS4 versus the PC. According to Blomberg...
For Avalanche Studios as an open-world games developer [the PlayStation 4] is super exciting and opens up many new opportunities.
Take note that he does say “most PCs” and not “all PCs”. Heck, he's obviously referring to laptops and casual PCs...right?
Well, it is true that the specs of the PS4 are just above the standard mid-grade computer for the same price. However, dedicated gaming PCs from last year, this year and next year still stomp a mudhole in the PS4's specs. Also, all I have to say is Nvidia's Titan.
Still, the next-gen PlayStation console is no slouch and offers gamers a ton of opportunities for both big and small games, as well as offering developers an open canvas for creativity like no console before it.
Avalanche Studios is already hard at work at what's rumored to be Just Cause 3 for next-gen consoles and PC. We'll keep you posted on any further updates regarding the company and their games.
