The Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will introduce new animations and cutscenes to the single-player RPG. Among the new cutscenes is a gorgeous new opening cinematic that depicts the murder of a king.

More specifically, the cinematic shows the assassination of King Demavend of Aedirn. The drunk monarch is watching entertainment on the deck of a ship when he's suddenly ambushed. No sense in spoiling the particulars. Needless to say, the king's death is a quite a spectacle.

Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition will also introduce new locations, such as a forest in the Loc Muine mountains, filled with major adventures to tackle. During your journeys you'll encounter new characters like Brigida Papebrock Dame, a noble woman.

This new version of Witcher 2 will hit the Xbox 360 on April 17th. CD Projekt is planning a PC release on that date as well. Players who previously bought the standard edition of Witcher 2 on the PC will get a free upgrade to the Enhanced version.

If you bought the PC Witcher 2 through Good Old Games, you'll get several extras as well. CD Projekt will give you a new game map, comic book, manual, soundtrack, and game guide on the 17th along with your free upgrade.
