Wolf Among Us Episode 2 Coming In 2014, First Screenshots Spotlight Jack And Strippers

Update: Episode Two will be launching in February.

Original article: Telltale Games has provided an update on their episodic adventure The Wolf Among Us, based on the comic book series Fables. Episode Two, "Smoke And Mirrors," will be released later than you're hoping for.

"We wanted to thank everyone for playing the first chapter in The Wolf Among Us, and ask for your patience as the team works very hard this month to finalize what is shaping up to be another episode full of surprises," Telltale said on their official blog. "We're anticipating another update on its ETA for release very soon after the holidays, and we couldn't be more excited to continue this series with all of you."

It sounds like we'll get it in January 2014, then. The wait is a bit longer than I'd like - the first episode was released back in October - but not surprising. Telltale wants to begin the second season of their Walking Dead game later this month. There was no way they were going to release the latest episode of Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us in close proximity to each other. As the established brand, Walking Dead would overshadow the other game too much.

Wolf Among Us, like The Walking Dead, is an adventure game with a branching storyline. Players take on the role of Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of a group of fairy tale characters that have resettled in New York City. The decisions that players make change the course of the story.

As I said in my review of the first episode of Wolf, anyone who liked the first season of Walking Dead will enjoy this game. Maybe it's a good thing that they're not being released on top of each other. The two games can function as a tag team, with a new episode from one game keeping us entertained while we wait for the next chapter of the other.

In the first episode of Wolf Among Us, Bigby began investigating the murder of one of these "Fables." His investigation will continue into Episode Two and introduce new characters. A new screenshot from Telltale reveals one of them: Jack Horner. Jack is a selfish trickster who played a prominent role in the Fables comics, ultimately starring in his own spin-off. He's the sort of low-life that Bigby will need to rub elbows with in order to find new leads on the murderer.

The other new screenshot released today reveals a new location: Pudding & Pie. This is a gentleman's club that caters to the Fable community. Bigby looks like he's about to bludgeon one of Pudding & Pie's customers with a cricket bat.

Wolf Among Us' first episode is available on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac. It debuted on iOS earlier this week as well.
