XBLA Wednesday: Triggerheart Exelica

I am an ignorant slut because I have never played or heard of Triggerheart Exelica. So if you have first hand experience with the Japanese arcade title, let me know if it’s worth my cash. I’m a sucker for shooters, but more often than not they’re done horribly. The Japanese scrollers have a tendency to contain unique gameplay elements that at least make the game fun.

According to Microsoft’s press release the XBLA version of Triggerheart Exelica is an upgrade to the original Japanese arcade game, and not the Dreamcast port. Players will be able to fling enemies around with anchors (thank you unique gameplay element of the day), and a Variable Boss Attack System scales the difficulty depending on how poor you’re playing. Wait…so this game lets me throw enemies around and then doesn’t make fun of me when the going gets tough? After spending an hour attempting the “War Room” level of COD4 on Veteran I could use the reprieve.

Triggerheart Exelica – the lone XBLA release this week – will be available on Wednesday at 9:00am GMT for 800 Microsoft Points.
