With every game seemingly getting bigger and bigger by the release, saved games have also taken a trip down expansion road and have become dilated enough to require more and more hard drive space. For those of you out there who have hard drives that are just filled to the brim, Microsoft has finally followed suit behind Sony in offering cloud saves for specific Xbox Live titles, which should open up lots more room for your hard disk.
According to Pocket-Lint [via MCV] the cloud service has secretly become active after it was initially announced at this year’s E3 event. Only select Xbox Live enabled titles offer cloud saves, which means that you can save data, progress and even your Gamertag to the cloud without worrying about data loss on your end if your Xbox fails. The only thing required is at least 512 megabytes of spare cache space for the synching process. What’s more is that it’s possible to now export Gamertag info and stats onto another Xbox without any hardware transference whatsoever. Neat, eh? The move follows a similar tactic by Sony who has already adopted the useful element of cloud properties. That’s not to mention that it saves a ton of hard disk space being able to save games, content and information to the cloud without having to rely on some of the less important stuff hogging up precious hard disk space.
