Andrew Garfield Visits The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Edit Bay In New Behind The Scenes Image
Director Marc Webb was a Twitter fiend during the production of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, sending out a photo from the set on his profile every single day of filming. Sadly the rate of behind the scenes pictures has significantly decreased as the superhero film has entered post-production. Now the filmmaker's Twitpics are a rare treat, and today he's gifted fans with the new shot that you see above.
Set in the film's editing room, the photo comes with the message "Andrew Garfield kindly showing editor Pietro Scalia how it's done," and has the lead actor of the film motioning to some monitors. It's a fun tiny look at the post-production process and it's cool that Garfield would want to come in to see what's happening with the movie, but the coolest thing about this image is what is on display in the background:
It's not the clearest, most high-resolution image on the internet, but that is definitely some new Electro art that has not yet been officially released. What's special about it is that - believe it or not - this is the first full-body shot of the villain design from the film. Before now this cover of Entertainment Weekly was the most we saw of the costume:
It was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that this version of Electro, played by Jamie Foxx will get his powers due to an accident involving genetically modified electric eels (much the same way that Spider-Man got his powers from a genetically modified spider). This movie will introduce the character to audiences, but it's expected that Foxx will reprise the role in future sequels when the Spider-Man villain league known as the Sinister Six is formed. Rhys Ifans' Curt Conners/The Lizard from the first Amazing Spider-Man film is expected to be another one of the group, and in addition to Electro the sequel will also be introducing characters like Aleksei Sytsevich a.k.a. The Rhino (played by Paul Giamatti) and Norman Osborn a.k.a. Green Goblin (played by Chris Cooper).
Emma Stone, Sally Field and Martin Sheen will all be reprising their roles from the first movie, while other new cast additions include Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, Sarah Gadon, and B.J. Novak. Columbia Pictures will release the film in theaters on May 2, 2014.
