Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was one of the weirdest books I read as a kid, so of course, I loved it. When I heard Sony was working on an animated feature based on the book, I was a little confused-- the book doesn't exactly have a plot-- but also thrilled.
Now Anna Faris has spilled the beans to MTV Movies that she and Andy Samberg will be among the voices bringing the book to life. And there are probably a lot more big names involved too. Faris told MTV, "I’m actually not sure how many people I can talk about, because I’m not sure how many people are signed on. But let me just say I’m doing a voice, with a lot of great comedians.”
She says her character will be a "weather girl," which has got to be a pretty interesting job in a town where it rains food. As Faris explains it, "So hamburgers come down, and ice cream, and [the residents] have to figure out a way [stop it]. Eventually, it gets more and more dangerous, and they have to figure out a way to stop the satellite machine that’s raining food.”
Remember that song "If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops.."? Sounds like Cloudy will be the ultimate version of that particular kid's dream come true. I'm really coming around to liking Faris, so I'm excited that she'll be taking part in this movie. As with any major animated movie that features a ton of celebrity voices, we'll probably barely be able to pick her voice out of the bunch. But still, as long as the hamburgers keep coming from the sky, I'm happy.
