David Ayer has had no trouble picking up big, talented names for his upcoming World War II tank drama Fury, having already recruited Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman, but today he's looking to add an actor with whom he's already worked. Michael Pena, who gave a brilliant performance co-starring with Jake Gyllenhaal in Ayer's 2012 LAPD thriller End of Watch, is in in talks to join the cast of the writer/director's latest project.

Set in Germany towards the end of WWII, the movie follows a five-man tank crew who work together to fight off the remaining Nazi forces. Should he sign on, Pena will play "the tank’s driver, a butcher who always is drunk -- having vowed never to go into combat sober." The trade also has details on Pitt's character, saying that he will be playing a sergeant named Wardaddy.

Ayer is still in post-production on his latest film, the thriller Ten, which won't be out until Janaury of next year, but he is already moving quite fast with Fury. Columbia Pictures has picked up the movie for distribution, cameras are scheduled to start rolling this September, and the studio plans to have the film in theaters on November 14, 2014.

Pena kicked off the year starring in Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad and will next be featured in DreamWorks Animation's Turbo. He is currently filming David O. Russell's American Hustle and recently played Caesar Chavez in director Diego Luna's biopic about the civil rights activist.
