Variety is reporting that Burt Reynolds has been cast to play Boss Hogg in the upcoming movie version of The Dukes of Hazard. Boss Hogg? What happened to Roscoe’s fat little buddy??? How can Burt Reynolds play Boss Hogg? He is getting pretty paunchy, but I'd have rather seen them stick to short and fat.

As if to counteract this potential error in casting (which probably won’t matter since the movie is doomed anyway) Variety is also reporting that Willie Nelson will join The Dukes cast as the moonshine lovin Uncle Jesse. Swap out moonshine for an insatiable love of pot and Willie is a natural fit to be the boy’s Uncle.

With Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar set to direct, the film is still on track for a 2005 release.
