Anna Faris is the Diet Coke of actresses. Despite a role in the critically acclaimed Lost in Translation, the bulk of her career has been made up of trash like the Scary Movie pictures and The Hot Chick. Granted, some of it has been high quality trash, but trash nonetheless.

Production Weekly has announced the next Anna Faris role will be in the comedy Smiley Face. The independent film will feature Faris in a role as a girl who eats her roommate’s pot cupcakes. She then must go through her daily tasks (including replacing the cupcakes) while in the chemically induced state. Think Dude, Where’s My Car without the camaraderie... and, knowing Faris, without a lot of the funny.

Production on Smiley Face is slated to begin in January. No word on when Faris’s antics will drag out the college-age crowd to art houses in Napoleon Dynamite type stupors.
