After what seemed like an endless wait, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is in theaters now, but it won't be long until the next Marvel Studios films comes a-knocking. This summer, the comic book movie company will be transporting audiences to the furthest reaches of space with Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanks to the trailer that was released earlier this year, we couldn't be more excited to see the full film for ourselves, but at the very least today brings a quick clip from the movie, courtesy of MTV.
This is a scene that we actually get to see a lot of in the theatrical trailer, but it's still interesting to see what direction it goes in. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) may look like he's giving up easily when he surrenders the mysterious orb over to Korath (Djimon Hounsou) and his men, but the truth is that he has some serious moves and some pretty kick-ass toys to go with them.
But that's far from all the Guardians of the Galaxy stuff we have for you today! While director James Gunn is still hard at work on the film as it makes its way through post-production, earlier today he took to his Instagram to share a photo from some reshoots that are currently being done. Check it out embedded below:
On the left of the shot is Zoe Saldana, who is playing the green, alien super-assassin Gamora, while on the right is Karen Gillan, who shaved off her beautiful red hair to become the alien bounty hunter Nebula. In the film the two characters have some serious history together, and it appears that the two actresses are training for their big fight scene together here.
Both directed and scripted by Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy begins following Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, a half-human, half-alien who was taken away from Earth at a young age and has spent his entire life trying to be a Han Solo-level badass. This turns out to be a bad lifestyle choice, however, because Star-Lord winds up stealing a mysterious and incredibly powerful orb that winds up drawing the attention of some seriously bad dudes. Teaming up with a group of four other intergalactic losers (Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista) who he meets in prison, Star-Lord must not only find a way to protect his own ass, but the rest of the galaxy as well.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be in theaters on August 1st.
