Jason Sudeikis Joins Will Ferrell And Zach Galifianakis In Dog Fight![]()
I've always had a hard time getting a read on Jason Sudeikis. He's one of the better castmembers on the current run of Saturday Night Live, but Saturday Night Live as a whole is still pretty terrible. In 2011 he's made three movies, and while Horrible Bosses was solid, both Hall Pass and A Good Old Fashioned Orgy failed to impress. Perhaps what Sudeikis needs is simply a solid comedy script that can show off his real talent. Perhaps that script will be Dog Fight.
THR reports that the comedian has booked a gig in the new Will Ferrell-Zach Galifianakis political comedy. Directed by Jay Roach and written by Chris Henchy (The Other Guys, Land of the Lost), the movie is about two southern gentlemen who go toe-to-toe in a battle for a small congressional district in South Carolina. The article doesn't say who Sudeikis will play. Both Sarah Baker and Katherine LaNasa were recently cast as the wives of the film's male leads. The project is scheduled to go into production next month and will be released by Warner Bros. on August 10, 2012. What's interesting about the male casting in Dog Fight thus far is that they've yet to cast a straight man. Ferrell, Galifianakis and Sudeikis are all known for playing the over-the-top characters and there isn't anyone in the movie yet to balance that out. Then again, maybe one of them is changing things up this time around. Sudeikis did do a pretty good job playing it straight on 30 Rock, so perhaps that will be his job here as well. Knowing who his character is would probably help out a lot in that department. |
