When a movie is based on a brand of toys, its marketing scheme is pretty much built right in. And when that movie has the absurd sense of humor that Chris Miller and Phil Lord’s upcoming animated comedy The LEGO Movie, you know the merch is going to be better than your average kids movie. Above you can see the figurine planned for Hard Hat Emmet, voice by Chris Pratt in the film. Just a happy-go-lucky-looking man made of blocks, right? He’s about what you’d expect, as are the figures for President Business (Will Ferrell) and Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), who is going for a wild west look here.

But it’s the random secondary characters that have me wondering if any of these figurines are in my future, whether I have to buy them myself or receive them as a gift. I said RECEIVE THEM AS A GIFT. Oops, sorry. Not only do we have the dopey Scribble Face Bad Cop, but there’s the menacing Velma Staplebot and the grizzly Wiley Fusebot. He’s dynomiiiite.

I’d like to keep showing you these figurines, but I’m afraid it’s time for me to go hang out with my two favorite people in the world: Taco Tuesday Guy and "Where’s My Pants" Guy. We’re best buds to the core, though everyone usually keeps their pants on. You can find the rest of the toys on the movie’s Facebook page.

Gotta get my hair to look like that before I die. Anyway, The LEGO Movie also stars Channing Tatum, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Will Arnett, Charlie Day, Jonah Hill and Cobie Smulders. It will brick up theater screens on February 7, 2014.

While you’re watching the trailer below, you can think about how horrible it is that Batman didn’t get his own LEGO figure. Granted, he’s already got a line of games, but that doesn’t matter.
