Happy Feet ended up as one of the biggest grossing movies of 2006, and in Hollywood that automatically means sequel consideration. The film’s writer/director George Miller spoke to The Age and told them that Happy Feet 2 is “certainly now a real possibility.”
A possibility yes, but not one he’s going to start working on any time soon. Miller has a lot of other movies he says he wants to do first: “There's about two or three films I want to do before we would ever embark on that, including another Mad Max sooner or later.”
He’s not in any rush to do Mad Max 4 either. He’s already on the record that he’ll take his time in getting around to it. If Happy Feet 2 is on his list after Mad Max 4, that means a really long wait before he gets around to more penguins. By that time, any heat the franchise has will have evaporated and I doubt anyone will still be interested.
