Burlesque has a new trailer and much like the last trailer, it seems abundantly clear that this movie should really be called Cabaret instead. In spite of the title it seems to have nothing to do with actual burlesque all but instead exists in some sort of throwback club with big, show tunes style dancing and singing. Frank Sinatra would have loved this place, Dita von Teese, not so much.

That said the trailer’s full of glitz, glamour, and Christina Aguilera’s still utterly amazing voice. If you like glitter or if you like Stanley Tucci one-liners, then you’ll love this trailer. Take a look:

“Any questions?” may be the most overused movie marketing line in history. If at any point in a film you utter those words, rest assured they will indeed be the last thing said in at least one trailer for the movie in question. The whole trailer feels far too familiar that way, it’s like we’re watching a nudity-free version of Showgirls.

And what happened to Kristen Bell? She got a brief cameo in the last trailer and she's got a blink and you'll miss it (I did the first time around) cameo again here. If You Again had done better at the box office last weekend, would she have figured more prominently?

Still, the trailer is beautiful, filled with sharp images and amazing glittering lights. Maybe this will work, on a visual level, at least.
