BEST ACTRESS
As is sadly common, it's a Best Actress field with a lot of talent but not a lot of depth-- and unusually for this point in the season, some audiences have already seen four of the biggest contenders. It's hard to imagine any of those Likely Contenders being knocked out by something below, so it's mostly watching Knightley, Dench and Watts jostle each other around-- or possibly keeping an eye on a dark horse from the bottom. I'm especially interested to see how Barbra Streisand, in her first lead role since 1996, might shake things up-- remember, Diane Keaton was a Best Actress nominee for Something's Gotta Give, and Streisand's even more beloved.
