Owen Wilson is set to battle bullies for famed 80s director John Hughes. He’ll star in the high-concept comedy Drillbit Taylor for Paramount Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is based on an original concept from Hughes, and tells the story of high school freshman fed up with being targeted by bullies. For protection, the boys hire a guy they believe to be a low-rent solider of fortune named Drillbit Taylor (Owen). Unfortunately for them, he’s nothing of the sort.

What’s really interesting about the idea is the names involved in coming up with it. It’s an original idea from John Hughes, the script is being written by 40 Year-Old Virigin’s Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow along with Chris Brown. Weird Science crossed with “Freaks and Geeks”? Count me in.

Paramount is eager for a summer 2007 release, so they’ll have to get moving. Right now Without a Paddle’s Steven Brill is being eyed to direct.
