Tom Cruise Reaches New Heights In Mission: Impossible IMAX Poster
If you didn’t know any better, you might think it was Tom Cruise, and not Andrew Garfield, playing Spider-Man in next summer’s reboot of the web-slinger’s Amazing franchise. Instead, Cruise simply does his best wall-crawling impersonation of the spectacular Spidey in an all-new Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol poster that was created to promote the sequel’s release on IMAX screens beginning Dec. 16. Here’s the poster (via Yahoo Movies). Don’t look down.
![]() The striking shot references the breathtaking high-wire stunts Cruise performed on the side of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai – the world’s tallest skyscraper, and just another playground for the fearless action star. (The sequence also is featured heavily in the film’s trailer, which you can see right HERE.) In Ghost Protocol, Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, leading spy for the IMF who is forced, once again, to go off the grid when he’s blamed for a bombing at the Kremlin. He’s joined by Impossible cohorts Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton, as well as newcomers Jeremy Renner and Tom Wilkinson. The reason I’m intrigued is because Protocol marks the live-action directorial debut of Brad Bird, whose credits include the outstanding animated features The Iron Giant and The Incredibles. That, and Cruise dangles from the side of the world’s tallest building! Seriously, people, if that doesn’t help put butts in seats for a fourth Mission: Impossible, I’m not sure what will. |
