Twilight's Peter Facinelli Fronts Horror Thriller Gallows Hill
Though Peter Facinelli has appeared in five Twilight movies that make him easily recognizable in most corners of the world, to me he'll always be Mike Dexter, the bullying jock of Can't Hardly Wait. And as part of that late '90s cast of young actors, he'll always tap into that era's nostalgia, making him a welcomed presence to me, whatever the picture. So the fact that's he's lined up to front a new supernatural horror movie is just gravy.
THR reports Facinelli has joined Sophia Myles of Underworld and Nathalia Ramos from the teen crime-solving series House of Anubis for Gallows Hill. Penned by Thir13en Ghosts' scribe Richard D’Ovidio, this freaky feature is set in Bogota, Columbia, where Facinelli's character, an American widower, chases his runaway teen daughter (Ramos) who has fled to her departed mother's homeland. Myles will play his new fiancée, who is woefully in tow. But things go from Lifetime movie drama to something far more twisted when a car accident strands them at a dilapidated inn, where they soon find the old innkeeper has a young girl confined to the basement. Trying to do the right thing, they free her, unleashing something they never considered.
Up and coming horror auteur Victor Garcia, who has directed such sequels as Return to the House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors 2 and Hellraiser: Revelations, will helm Gallows Hill, which will mark his first shot at an original horror property. I must confess, I've never seen any of Garcia's former work, but as a big fan of the chilling visual storytelling and the black and bloody humor of Thir13en Ghosts, I'm looking forward to see what D’Ovidio will unleash this time.
Gallows Hill will go into production in Bogota this month.
