Tyler Perry Gets Two More Movies![]()
As we’ve written about before, Tyler Perry certainly has a dedicated following. He’s one of the few critic-proof entities out there, so much so that Lionsgate doesn’t bother screening his movies for the press. And why should they? Even the mediocre ones get lots of attention and have fans quickly defending Perry.
It makes perfect sense, then, for Lionsgate to keep their partnership with Perry for as long as they can. That’ll be at least two more pictures according to The Hollywood Reporter who announced today that Lionsgate has acquired the distribution rights for two more Perry pictures. The studio was already committed to distribution of Perry’s next film, Meet the Browns which will open in March. Now add to the list, The Family that Preys Together which will be an original screenplay project from the writer/director, and Madea Goes to Jail, an adaptation of Perry’s stage play that will have him reprising his popular character Madea. Both pictures will start production in the spring, with no mention of the strike affecting the movies in any way. Presumably, Perry already has his scripts ready to go. |
