Watch Tom Hiddleston's Impersonation Of Owen Wilson As Loki And A New Thor: The Dark World Featurette
Just because the summer blockbuster season is over doesn't mean that Marvel Studios is done with 2013. For the first time since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, the comic book company will be releasing one of their movies during the fall, with Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World scheduled to arrive this November. As a result, this means that the next month is going to be packed with all kinds of new clips and previews of the film, giving us new looks at both the movie itself and what went on behind the scenes making it. For example, above you will find a new featurette about the return of Tom Hiddleston's Loki in the movie (courtesy of SuperHeroHype), who will be returning to Asgard for the first time since the end of Kenneth Branagh's Thor. But that's not all we have for you today.
Sticking with Hiddleston and Loki for a moment, our second little Thor: The Dark World-related tidbit of the day comes from a Popcorn Taxi Q&A session with the actor that took place recently down in Australia. In the video from the event it's revealed that the British star has an impressively accurate Owen Wilson impression that he keeps in his back pocket, and he used the opportunity on stage to ponder what it would have been like if Wilson had landed the God of Mischief role instead of him. Not only is the impression amazing, it's equally stunning that Hiddleston has managed to remember his lines from The Avengers word-for-word:
Finally, there's a bit of news about the film that has been revealed over on Comic Book Movie. According to the site, a Thor promotional event was recently held in Beijing, and in addition to bringing Hiddleston along for the trip (that dude is everywhere!) Marvel and Disney also debuted about 30 minutes of footage from the finished movie. You can find the full description over at the source (warning: it's a bit spoilery and roughly translated from Chinese), but you can get a taste of the write-up below
It begins with Loki wearing handcuffs in Asgard. Guards escort Loki to Odin’s throne where Frigga tells Loki not to repeat his past mistakes. Loki retorts what is “repeat?" To punish Loki, Odin informs him that he will be permanently locked away in a dungeon, and tells him that his brother Thor will be the king...
Based on a script by Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely, Thor: The Dark World begins as Thor (Chris Hemsworth) takes his criminal brother Loki (Hiddleston) back to Asgard where he will be punished for the crimes he has committed. The titular hero is also able to reconnect with his love, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and all things seem right. That is, until Maliketh the Accurrsed (Christopher Eccleston) and his army of Dark Elves - an evil race thought to be long extinct - find their way back into our universe with plans for revenge. Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins co-star in the film, which will be in theaters on November 8th.
