The Major HBO Star Who Was Cut From Neighbors 2

Two years ago, Zac Efron and Seth Rogen teamed up to give us one of the absolute best comedies of 2014 in the form of the epic college party movie Neighbors. It was a fantastic college movie that skewered fraternity life without completely condemning it, and now it’s time for the sororities to get their moment in the spotlight. The upcoming sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, will reassemble the original film’s cast, with a handful of awesome new additions. However, HBO queen and Girls star Lena Dunham apparently didn’t get a bid, as her scene ended up on the cutting room floor. Check out the image below to get a glimpse of what could have been.

As you can see from the Instagram post above, Lena Dunham had a role in the movie that involved her playing Joan of Arc. However, the film would portray her as a version of Joan who rewrites history by jumping off of the burning stake and taking her sword to her male oppressors. We can’t see much because she’s mostly just surrounded by blue screens, but we can only imagine that it would have been awesome to see the Girls star in action.

Based upon that description of the scene, and considering the film’s underlying theme of female empowerment, it seems like the Joan of Arc sequence could be part of a montage describing powerful women throughout history. This would make sense, considering the original film utilized a similar sequence in which the Delta Psi brothers chronicle how their fraternity allegedly created all of the great party games – complete with numerous cameos from comedians such as The Lonely Island, the Workaholics crew, and New Girl's Jake Johnson.

That’s only a guess, but if the film does return to use that sort of montage, we could potentially expect to see other hilarious cameos in the film. I'm also a huge Lena Dunham fan, so you can fully expect me to wait and hope with my fingers crossed that her scene ends up as one of the Blu-ray special features.

We will bring you anything and everything related to the upcoming release of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising as it becomes available to us. The film hits theaters on May 20.
