Bieber And One Direction Outpaced By Rihanna And Minaj In American Music Awards Nominations

The American Music Awards already enlisted Christina Aguilera to perform at the fortieth anniversary event in November, and today, they tapped the songstress to announce the award ceremony’s official nominees. Featuring twenty categories that span genres from Hip-Hop to Country to Electronic Dance, the ABC broadcast has long been a favorite with audiences and routinely provides a fun and relaxing good time for its big name nominees.

Leading the pack this year were Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Both women were able to score four nominations, which put them ahead of a slew of performers with three honors including Justin Bieber, Drake, Usher, Maroon 5 and the increasingly popular One Direction.
