Demi Moore's Friend Thinks Hollywood Is Partially At Fault

Now that everyone has had a chance to let the last gasps of shock about the Demi Moore situation fade away, many are beginning to wonder how exactly the actress got to the point of needing rehab. The most overt answer, of course, is the break-up with Ashton Kutcher, but at least one of the forty-nine-year-old’s friends isn’t ready to credit the former That 70s Show star just yet.

According to E!, an unnamed source close to Moore admits that the split with Kutcher did play a role but argues her problems existed long before he came into the picture and mostly stem from the pressures of Hollywood. Blaming the glitz and glamour of fame certainly isn’t a new choice, but given how recently the actress found herself single, it’s a bit surprising her friend pointed the finger in that direction. Here’s an excerpt of the buddy’s take on how the movie business played a role…
”(It’s about) constantly having to prove you're not just a pretty face but a talented actor, as well. Constantly having to prove you're a good mother, not just a celebutante around town who goes to parties instead of looking after her family. Having to stay sober in a town that's so not.”

There’s no doubt in my mind that Hollywood causes weird pressures most of the rest of us don’t have to deal with. The public spotlight can often be a menacing presence, but at the end of the day, we are still responsible for our own behavior. The factors that played a role may be numerous, but Moore still made the decisions that got her rushed to the hospital.

Pop Blend wishes the starlet nothing but the best as she works on her own life. Hollywood can take a toll on an actor, as can a long-term break-up, but Moore has always proven a smart and resourceful woman. I have no doubt she’ll be in control and back on top in no time.
