Just a few days ago, Season 11 American Idol winner Phillip Phillips underwent the kidney surgery the contestant needed all through the competition. Because Phillips had waited so long to accomplish what needed to be accomplished, and because there are only a few short weeks before the American Idol tour gets the show on the road, I had some doubts about whether or not fans attending the first few dates would be able to see their main man. As it turns out, this was a glass half empty sort of worry.

After completing a successful 7-hour kidney surgery on June 6, the 21-year-old singer was released from the hospital on Sunday and headed home for a prolonged period of recuperation. According to E! News, Phillips actually spent some time signing a multitude of autographs and talking about how he is ready to get moving soon.
"I'm out of the hospital and back to work! Looking forward to the future.”

The young man has had less than a week to recover and he’s already doing what he can to get back to work. Despite having a stent taken out and a ton of kidney stones removed, Phillips seems hellbent on making it to the American Idol tour’s first date. So, if you are a fan of the guitar playing wonder and do have tickets to the July 6 Detroit show, you are looking to be in pretty good shape. I hope the singer can keep the energy up for the entire 45-day tour.
