A New Duggar Special May Be Coming, Here's What We Know

It's been well over a year since TLC was rocked by the knowledge that one of the members of the Duggar family, Josh Duggar, had molested several young girls when he was a teenager, including members of his family. In the time following, the network's original series 19 Kids and Counting was cancelled. Still, there was a strong interest in other members of the Duggar family, and now it looks like TLC is planning yet another special based around members of the Duggar family.

While not confirmed by TLC, new reports indicate that the cable network is planning a special based on Duggar cousin Amy King. If you know a lot about the Duggar family tree, you may already know Amy Duggar King is the daughter of Deanna, who just so happens to be Jim Bob's sister. Amy recently celebrated her 30th birthday, and TLC was on hand to film the big event. Duggar Family News confirmed the filming a few days ago. The Duggar cousin confirmed the news via Instagram, and have noted they have been working on a project that has taken quite a bit of time and looks to involve TLC cameras

Currently, TLC does have some Duggar-oriented programming in the lineup. Counting On follows Jill and Jessa Duggar and their respective families. Jessa is currently expecting a baby, and there's plenty that TLC can film right now. However, the network has had some trouble figuring out how to make money off of the popular TV personalities, as a slew of advertisers have pulled away from Jill and Jessa: Counting On, wanting to distance themselves from the Duggar family altogether. These advertisers include Verizon Wireless, Choice Hotels, Gerber Life, Cici's Pizza and many more.

TLC may simply be branching out in the hopes to keep the Duggar brand alive, without actually having to film someone who has contact with tarnished brother Josh Duggar, who not only dealt with a molestation scandal but was also involved with Ashley Madison when it's list of users was revealed. And yes, he is married.

While Counting On may not make it over the long haul, families have come back from scandal before. We'll have to wait and see how this whole Duggar thing pans out and whether or not TLC will be able to find a formula that works with certain family members in the future. Amy Duggar King does have some experience with TLC, and we'll let you know if the network confirms a long-term project. For now, you can check out what else TLC has coming up with our fall TV premiere schedule.
