Waiting for The Walking Dead to return from its annual midseason hiatus is never an easy thing for the show's biggest fans, since the innate secrecy means the promotional materials are few and far between. Following up on those bizarre still life images released recently, AMC has put out some actual character-centric pics for us to dissect, and in the most interesting one, Rick is particularly interested in (maybe) one character, Enid, and his interest is on the "uneasily curious to pissed off" end of the spectrum for some reason.

Yeah, so it's not at all just the reinvigorated Rick that's giving Enid the Evil Eye. We have a whole bunch of regulars here, and almost all of them are staring at the teenager incredulously, even Carl. (Who literally has only one Evil Eye to give.) Rick looks like he just got told his beard has been fake all this time, while Sasha and Jesus offer up the best "WTF" looks. You know you've done something wrong if Jesus is dismayed. And it looks as if only Rosita is on Enid's side here, since she's looking back to Rick's side.

But wait a minute! What if Enid isn't standing there by herself at all? The image is centered rather strangely, with Enid pushed all the way to the left, which would make sense if the shot was edited to cut someone else out of it.

So what could they have to say or do that would inspire such a wall of disbelief? Well, perhaps the synopsis that AMC released for The Walking Dead's back half will shed a little light on that. It notes that the group will be spending time working together to figure out how to defeat Negan, before discussing what else is coming up in the latter half of Season 7. Here's what the official logline from AMC has to say about what is coming up:

We'll meet new survivors in incredible places. We'll see Rick and the group tested in ways we've never seen before. We'll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army.

It's possible that Enid will side with Gregory on not wanting to revert to violence in retaliating against Negan. Glenn's death will always weigh heavily on them, particularly Maggie obviously, and it's easy to understand that bringing about similar situations would be one to avoid. Or, on the flip side, maybe they conspired together and came up with an extremely fucked up plan that no one can wrap their heads around. Either way, it'll be fun to learn what's happening.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC for the back half of Season 7 on Sunday, February 12. Head to the next page to see two more brand new images of Rick not being the happiest person in the show's future, and then check out our midseason premiere schedule to see what else is coming.
