Fox's version of the popular U.K. singing competition series X Factor has locked in the third judge. Set to join Cowell and Antonio “L.A.” Reid at the judges table to offer praise and criticisms to the competing musicians is British pop star Cheryl Cole.
This news isn’t coming out of nowhere as Cole was said to be a frontrunner for the job. She’s also had some experience at the task of judging talent, having sat with Cowell at the judges table for the U.K. version of X Factor.
“I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of THE X FACTOR. I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started,” said Cole. “I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.”
Not being familiar with Cheryl Cole’s music, I keep mixing her up in my head with Paula Cole, which results in getting “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?” stuck in my head. If you want a sample of Cheryl Cole’s musical talent, here’s one of her music videos.
There’s still one seat at the judges table left to fill and auditions will in Dallas, TX, on Thursday, May 26.
