Martin Short And Jamie Foxx To Host SNL, Paul McCartney To Perform For Christmas Episode
Saturday Night Live aired a rerun last weekend and it looks like we're in for another encore presentation this Saturday night, but the sketch comedy series has lined up its next two acts and they're good ones. Both actors are returning hosts, and one of them is a former SNL player.
NBC announced today that Jamie Foxx and Martin Short have signed on to host upcoming episodes. Foxx, who's set to star in Quentin Tarantino's highly anticipated film Django Unchained (due in theaters this Christmas), will be making his second appearance as host on SNL on Saturday, December 8. The musical guest for the episode will be NE-YO. It's the first time the artist will perform on the series.
And the week after that (Saturday, December 15), Martin Short will return to host Saturday Night Live's Christmas show. In addition to having starred in SNL for the 1984-85 season of the long-running series, has also hosted the series two other times. The first time was with his fellow Amigos Chevy Chase and Steve Martin, and he hosted again in 1996. Here's a sketch featuring one of Short's most beloved SNL characters, Ed Grimley.
As though Short as host weren't a Christmas gift enough, Paul McCartney will serve as the musical guest for the episode. This is McCartney's fourth turn as musical guest. He performed with Linda McCartney in 1980, and then solo in 1993 and 2010.
