Michael Kors Won't Be A Judge On Season 11 Of Project Runway
A group of all-new Project Runway contestants will send their first outfits down the catwalk on January 24, but when they do, their hemlines and taste levels won’t be judged by Michael Kors. The beloved mainstay had to bow out of the season as a result of his crazy schedule running his fashion line. Luckily, his replacement, while far less experienced in the ways of reality competition shows, is also a fashion mega-star.
According to Fox News, producers have tapped designer Zac Posen to fill in for Kors. The thirty-two-year-old has been a guest judge on the show before, and when the slot opened up, he jumped at the chance to try something new, especially since he’s a logical fill-in for someone like Kors. One of the keys to the show’s success has always been balance. Heidi Klum tends to have a more flamboyant eye. Nina Garcia tends to like outfits with muted colors that look expensive, and Kors is obsessive when it comes to how outfits are technically constructed. Posen too is very into construction and thus, should be the ideal substitute.
Lifetime released a statement this week saying Kors will return to judge the season finale; so, clearly there’s no hard feelings whatsoever between him and show. Hopefully, Posen will bring a fresh eye and an exciting passion to the show’s eleventh season. The judging panel might be a fine-tuned, well-balanced unit, but that doesn’t mean a temporary shake-up won’t be a nice change of pace.
