This Walking Dead Season 4 Featurette Promises More Zombies Than Ever Before
We're still months away from the return of The Walking Dead, but AMC has a way of keeping our appetite whetted for the series well in advance. Whether it's a preview photo, a well-timed marathon of episodes or an excellent Comic-Con preview, we're constantly being reminded that the zombie drama will return. The latest visual tease is the above video, which has the cast and crew talking about Season 4. Andrew Lincoln's so into filming the new season, in fact, that he's already in costume and accent for the part. Meanwhile, executive producers Gale Anne Hurd promises Season 4 will have more zombies than ever before.
And Rick will be farming? Well, they have to eat. And with the Woodbury residents moving into the prison, it stands to reason that they'll need a lot more food. It also looks like they're going to be attempting to transform the prison into home. Between two Woodbury residents' arrival and the time that's gone by since Rick and his people first showed up there, it seems like it's time for that to happen.
Finally, there's talk of a whole new threat. Something even deadlier than walkers or outsiders. Is it an airborne virus? That's the only thing I can think of that would be worse than flesh eating monsters or predatory survivors.
While we still have months to wait before Season 4 premieres, we also have the Season 3 DVD/Blu-ray set to look forward to. It hits shelves August 27. Below is a deleted scene from the third season DVD and Blu-ray set, which shows a pretty intense moment between Carol and Merle.
I remember Carol referencing her abusive husband when discussing Merle at some point in Season 3. She knows a thing or two about being pushed around by a man, and though Daryl's relationship with his brother has a different dynamic, I love that Carol sees the similarities enough to feel protective of Merle. The above scene is such a great moment for Carol. Not only does it demonstrate how protective she is of Daryl, but it also reminds us of how far she's come since the beginning of this series. She's not the same woman who one took abuse. And I really believe she'd slit Merle's throat if he did anything to hurt Daryl.
And for those who haven't seen it, here's that amazing Season 4 Preview that we saw at Comic-Con:
The Walking Dead Season 4 premieres Sunday, October 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC.
