Marvel girl power is in full effect with the new trailer for 2015’s highly anticipated Agent Carter. The brand new thirty second clip has Agent Carter aka Hayley Atwell doing exactly what we are hoping for in the series: kicking ass!
Jumping right out of the World War II vibe of Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter is another Marvel TV effort that looks to continue the House of Ideas’ stranglehold on live-action comic book entertainment. Complete with swing music blaring in the background, the clip has Hayley Atwell looking like a 1940’s version of Jennifer Garner’s Alias. With her sexy British accent and a set of specialized skill allowing her to be S.H.I.E.L.D’s first female agent, Agent Peggy Carter is set to make her debut this January in a special eight-episode event on ABC. The ahead-of-her-time character is a trailblazer and it looks as if ABC is sparing no expense when it comes to the look and production design of the short series. There’s nothing like seeing a classy lady like Agent Peggy Carter knocking out some baddies and spraying some guys with a machine gun. If she’s good enough for Cap, she’s certainly good enough for us!

It seems that the Marvel creatives are getting a firmer grasp on the TV end (as they also continue their film dominance). With Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D taking a break for the holidays, Agent Carter could be the shot in the arm that can start a very big 2015 for Marvel. Agent Carter could be a nice jumping-off point for new fans--and old-- who are looking to bone up on their knowledge of the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D. We last saw Agent Carter as a very old woman in a home in the monster hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier earlier this year, but now its time to see her in her heyday. And I personally am loving everything I have seen so far for the new series.

So, if Agent Carter holds its own in the ratings, can it become a regular 22 episode series for the network? It has to be considered that with the modest success of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, it has to at least be a possibility that if Agent Carter kills it in the ratings it could get a full order from the network for the Fall of 2015. Atwell is set to appear in the Avengers sequel, as well as Ant-Man, but other than that, her schedule is wide open. That makes the prospect of Agent Carter becoming its own series a very good possibility.
