Instead of creating a straightforward adaptation of the upcoming Bond film Skyfall, developer Eurocom is making a game that pays tribute to James Bond's entire 50-year history. 007 Legends features an all-new storyline that takes players through six Bond movies.

It's not clear which six Bond films will appear in the game. The only one they mention is Skyfall. There were five actors who preceded Daniel Craig as Bond - Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan - so presumably the game features one film from each of their respective eras. However, I could see them skipping Lazenby (he was only in one movie) and then doubling up on one of the more popular Bonds.

Eurocom promises a well-rounded Bond experience. You'll take down scores of enemies using high-tech gadgets and a wide selection of weapons. The shooter action will be interspersed vehicle segments. You'll find some time to hang out with beautiful women, too.

Legends will also bring back the Mi6 Ops Missions mode seen in GoldenEye 007: Reloaded. The Mi6 Ops mode, which takes place on maps from the campaign, presents players with a series of stealth or combat challenges. Online leaderboards will track your performance in these dynamic missions.

Eurocom is including competitive multiplayer modes as well. The multiplayer will feature maps, weapons, and characters from various Bond films. It can be played online or in four-player split-screen.

007 Legends is expected to launch this fall on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
