With platformer games slowly on the rise again, it's no surprise that Skylar And Plux: Adventure On Clover Island, another platformer in development, is working its way to the end of development. The devs were so kind as to release a trailer taking us inside a never-before-seen level called The Oasis.

The video comes from IGN and is narrated by the level designer, Eric, of Right Nice Games, who walks you through the level.

The first weapon you come across is the Time Warp, which, as it so obviously sounds like, lets you manipulate time. The example we see in the video shows it can be used to slow down objects so that we are able to jump on them to get across to another platform.

Another way you can use the Time Warp is to take certain parts of the map back in time to when they didn't look like they do now. The example in the gameplay video shows a mucky pit where you inevitably sink to your death. But if you use the time warp, thousands of years ago it might've been a solid patch of grass. And now you're able to cross it.

It's easy to get creative with this weapon because even during fights with enemies, you can slow down time to give you some extra leeway to get in your punch.

I am a huge fan of classic platformers and Skylar And Plux looks like it's going to line up right where Ratchet And Clank left off in the platformer world, feeling as if platformers never quite went out of style. I'm really glad to see platformers kind of making a comeback in popularity. I feel like it's just been too long since we've had a good run of successful platformers. It's probably why the remastered Ratchet And Clank did so well. But what's interesting about this game is the gameplay style and the color scheme make me feel like if Ratchet And Clank and No Man's Sky had a baby, this would be it. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Skylar And Plux: Adventure On Clover Island will be releasing sometime later this year for the PS4. For more information, you can visit the official website.
