Subscribe To Windows 10 Is Getting Another Xbox One Feature Updates
It's hard to believe, but [email protected] has been running strong for three years at this point. And according to a recent statement, Microsoft's collaborative efforts with indie developers aren't slowing down anytime soon. Along with new games, players can expect new features to hit the Xbox One in the coming months, as well as additional features for Xbox fans gaming on Windows 10.
Over on the Xbox blog, Director of [email protected] Chris Charla dropped by to celebrate the programs' three-year anniversary, as well as talk about what's in store for the future of the service. One addition, in particular, should get Windows 10 gamers pretty pumped, and that's the Game Preview functionality.
In the announcement, Charla explained that Game Preview will be made available on Windows 10 later this year, beginning with the highly anticipated indie title, Everspace. For those unfamiliar with Game Preview, it's basically Microsoft's answer to Early Access, a program that goes a long way to better indie games before they hit the market. In short, players will have the option to purchase games-in-progress, allowing them to tackle early builds and share their thoughts with developers in order to strengthen the final product. It's been a popular feature on the Xbox One, and now Windows 10 gamers will be able to get in on the action, too.
Speaking of Rockfish Games' Everspace, here's a look at the game in action. As you can see, Game Preview gives you the chance to test drive games still in development, but that doesn't mean they aren't already deep into said development.
And three years into [email protected], it seems like Microsoft is staying committed to the program. Charla claims there are more than 1,000 games currently in development for the platform, many of which we'll likely see earlier than expected thanks to Game Preview. In case you've forgotten what types of games have come up through the program, ID began with Strike Suit Zero and has gone on to include such titles as SMITE, Ark: Survival Evolved, the beloved INSIDE, and tough-as-nails Cuphead.
Charla went on to talk up additional features coming to the Xbox family, as well as improvements to those already in the rotation like Play Anywhere, Clubs and Looking for Group. Not only is Microsoft aiming to bring more games your way, they look to be making it easier than ever to play those games and find folks with similar interests.
We are, as always, interested in hearing what our readers think about all of this. Have you been enjoying the [email protected] offerings so far? Looking forward to trying out Game Preview on Windows 10? Let us know in the comments below.
