While a lot of attention has been paid to Electronic Arts and the whole cheater bans resulting in Origin bans and the fiasco behind that, a lot of people seem to have forgotten that Activision is also in the banhammer game, except paid-content isn’t being affected but hackers are.

Infinity Ward's community manager, Robert Bowling, took to Twitter to announce that more than 1600 cheaters, exploiters, boosters and hackers have been banned from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This means that you can now play in peace without worrying about some guy flying around at blinding speeds, knifing people like Ghostface from Scream.

The Tweet from Bowling is kept short and sweet…well it’s Twitter so it has to be kept short and sweet. Nevertheless, Bowling simply stated that “Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders.”

Activision may have broken sales records with Modern Warfare 3 but that doesn’t mean they’re just sitting around counting the dollar bills flowing in…well, actually they probably are but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t whipping out the banhammer every-so-often, ensuring that the game has a limited number of hackers permeating the gameplay atmosphere.

You can pick up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for just about every major home console and portable device out there or you can learn more by paying a visit to the Official Website.
