Remember how Sega said that Aliens: Colonial Marines would be arriving this year? Yeah, well, about that. It seems that they've decided to push the release until February of next year.

Colonial Marines is now slated for a February 12th global launch. Note, though, that the date only applies to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions. The Wii U edition is still undated. Essentially every Wii U game is undated, though, considering the console itself isn't out yet.

The game takes place after the film Aliens. A search and rescue team has been deployed to LV-426 to find Ellen Ripley, Corporal Hicks and their rest of their ill-fated team. Players will take on the role of a Colonial Marine. They can command A.I. squadmates or fight alongside other players via drop-in/drop-out co-op.

When Sega announced Colonial Marines would be arriving in fall 2012, I expressed some skepticism. It seemed unlikely that Gearbox release that game and Borderlands 2, another co-op shooter, on top of each other. They'd be cannibalizing their own sales. It's not really up to Gearbox - the games are published by two different companies - but presumably Sega decided that Marines would do better in a less competitive part of the year.

Sega also issued a new gameplay trailer today. that reiterates the new release date. Check it out below.
