The Announcement Trailer For The Culling Is Brutal And Merciless
If you’ve seen the death-riddled films like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale, then the new game from the indie developer Xaviant, The Culling, will be no less brutal. Check out the new announcement trailer below.
If there was ever a game built for trolls, The Culling would be it, because from the look of the trailer, there are endless ways you can take someone’s life. And some are as simple as pushing someone off of a cliff ledge when they aren’t looking. You have 20 minutes of gameplay to find or craft weapons, set traps and to stay alive, but to also kill others when you’re given the opportunity. The game is set on a remote island, so there’s nowhere to run beyond the water. And the map will consist of 16 players total, so there’s plenty of opportunities for you to kill and be killed.
It reminds me a lot of the main game mode in Counter-Strike where you wander around an office setting and kill off each other one by one until there’s only one survivor left. And the final battle could take minutes upon minutes, especially if it was a knife fight. Only in The Culling, it doesn’t appear you have a team, but rather rely only on yourself to stay alive.
While I enjoy multiplayer deathmatches as much as the next person, I honestly think my body couldn’t handle the stress level from this game. I’d wander around, constantly keeping an eye on the path behind me in case someone were to sneak up on me. But then you also have to worry about traps set by other players. And let me tell you, I was not good with traps when it came to games like The Evil Within. Knowing the coward I am, I’d probably find a spot and hide.
You’ll be able to try your luck in The Culling when it releases in Steam Early Access on March 8. You can check out the official website for more information.
