If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Gosh, Bomberman is fun and all, but I sure wish it would ditch the cutesy characters in favor for creatures and levels ripped straight out of nightmare land,” then upcoming PlayStation 4 battle game, Basement Crawl, is probably exactly what you’ve been looking for. And now, thanks to the latest announcement from Bloober Team, we know that we’ll all be able to play it starting next week.
The video posted at the bottom of this article will give you an even better idea of the gruesome aesthetic the developers are going for. An interesting note is that said video was used as the original reveal for the game. After that, everyone assumed that Basement Crawl would be some sort of survival horror game on the PS4. Consider us surprised, then, when we got an actual gander at the gameplay.
Not that I’m complaining here. I loved Super Bomberman 2 for the SNES and enjoy this type of party game, especially since it has online and couch modes available. Dungeon Crawl was supposed to come out earlier this year but, now with a bit more polish smeared across the hood, Bloober is finally ready to unleash it upon the masses on Feb. 25 for North America, Feb. 26 in the UK.
“After our slight delay, we’re truly excited to deliver a completed and enhance Basement Crawl to the more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 owners around the world,” said Piotr Babieno, Bloober Team CEO. “There really is no other game like Basement Crawl, a game that both revives the classic fun of crushing your friends face-to-face while also allowing international battles for supremacy. If you want to prove you’re a better gamer than your friends, Basement Crawl is the ultimate measure.”
So there you have it. Look for Basement Crawl on the PS4 next week for $9.99.
