Many Unreal Engine games have the option to turn gore on and off, and Borderlands 2 is no exception to the rule. Gearbox recently announced that the game will launch worldwide, completely and entirely uncut due to having a gore filter. As some of you know, the original Borderlands had to undergo a few snippets, cuts and edits in order to pass certification in some territories.

The news comes courtesy of a small post on the official Gearbox community site, Gearboxity. The post is short and sweet (as it should be) and basically points out that Borderlands 2 won't have to have any of its good parts snipped and neutered like the first game, stating...
Some fans will remember that the first Borderlands game was a bit toned down in certain territories compared to the rest of the world. No longer! Do you live in Germany? Australia? Bandits will be just as likely to explode into bloody chunks of awesomeness as they will be in Canada or England (which is to say: very likely.)

Or, maybe you’re the type who abhors violence. You’re in luck – we’ve implemented a Gore Toggle option. With a single button press, you can turn Borderlands a less violent experience!

Ah, Gore Toggle...friend of cautious parents and gib-protestors the world around. In other words, Borderlands 2 is now safe for Amish people to play...just switch off the gore and let the good times roll. Bring little Timmy along for the ride so he can learn a thing or two about Pandora, and then everyone will realize that without gore...guns are good.

Borderlands 2 now joins the ranks of other Mature games with Gore Toggles, including but not limited to Gears of War 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Unreal Tournament 3 and the original Mortal Kombat.

You can look for Borderlands 2 to launch on September 18th next month for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For more information on the game be sure to pay a visit to the Official Website.
