Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Trailer Battles Mechs In The Future

As promised, Activision released the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 tonight. The two-minute trailer, composed entirely of in-game footage, reveals more of the shooter's futuristic setting.

The trailer begins with a familiar face: Frank Woods, a Marine that appeared in the first Black Ops. He's seen better days; he's much older now (the start of the trailer says it's 2025) and he's confined to a wheel chair. He says he's surprised to be alive, and then launches into a short explanation of the game's plot.

In the future, the United States has built advanced computer systems and drones to keep the country safe. However, this unmanned army has a drawback. An unknown force has hijacked the system and is now turning it against America. The only ones that can save the day are good old fashioned soldiers like Woods.

Most of the gameplay footage takes place in a futuristic version of Los Angeles under assault by drones. There are a few short clips of a desert environment - Afghanistan? - as well, though. A brief shot seems to confirm another gunship mission, like the AC130 segments from Call of Duty 4.

Black Ops 2 will arrive on November 13th. It's being developed by Treyarch, the same studio that handled the first Black Ops.
