Epic is a word that best describes the new gameplay trailer for EA’s Dante’s Inferno. The game is coming along very nicely, and for the first time it’s no longer cinematic sequences on display but all in-engine play.

While the game’s set release date is about a year away Electronic Arts has already been promoting the game in advance to get people talking and chattering. People are definitely talking and they are definitely chattering. It’s all based on the long-winded poem called the Divine Comedy, in which Dante and an Angel venture through Purgatory, Heaven and the deepest circles of Hell. The Divine Comedy, for anyone who didn’t know, was also loosely based on the Book of Enoch in which case Enoch is guided through heaven and sections of hell designated for The Fallen.

Anyway, parts of the poem are used throughout the game and the art directors and visual coordinators have done a superb job bringing the game and the universe of Dante’s Inferno to life for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The color schemes and character models look amazing, and as you’ll see in the following trailer, presented exclusively by GameTrailers, the gameplay is looking sharp despite being a ways off from release.
