In the months leading up to Destiny's launch, Bungie has been releasing special codes that unlock extras for the online shooter. The studio has released 29 of these codes to date. Here's the full list and what each code unlocks.
There are three categories of extras that these codes offer. The first are Grimoire Cards, virtual trading cards that feature artwork on one side and information about the game's story on the other. For example, the "Warlock" card tells you a bit about that character class. Players can also earn Grimoire Cards through completing missions in Destiny.
The codes also unlock shaders and emblems. Shaders change the color of your Guardian's equipment to give him or her a little individuality. Emblems are backgrounds for your character's nameplate. Again, there's no effect on your character's actual capabilities.
There's no limit to how many codes you can enter. You can start doing it now, too, in case you're bored while waiting for Destiny.
Grimoire Cards will be automatically applied to all platforms you have linked to your Bungie account. Emblems and Shaders must be picked up in Destiny at the Tower. The items are offered by Tess Everis, the Special Orders vendor. She's the blue lady with short white hair on the west side of the Plaza. Here's a close-up of Tess:
There's a chance that Bungie could release additional Destiny codes in the future. This article will be updated if and when they do release those codes.
Destiny will launch worldwide on September 9th for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. If you're planning to buy the game on PS3 or Xbox 360, be sure to check out Bungie's free upgrade offer.
