We get a bit more story-oriented footage in the new trailer for Devil May Cry. It strings together a slightly more coherent take on the world that Dante inhabits, as well as his rebellious nature to deconstruct the establishment by killing demons in a gratuitously grandiose way.

The visuals for the game look pretty good, and it appears there's a smooth transition from cinematic footage to gameplay so it's not quite as jarring going from some awesome CG to some less-than-stellar in-game graphics.

The trailer also finally shows off the main antagonist of the game. It's tough to tell exactly what he's like given his brief appearance but it's nice to finally put a face to the puppet-master antics. Check it out below.

I doubt that trailer did anything to dissuade long-time DMC fans from being peeved at the new direction of the series, with Western developer Ninja Theory trading the Victorian-noir designs and romanticized gothic overtones of previous games for a more post-modern, emo-gothic, punk-grunge atmosphere for the newest game. And let's not get started on the absolutely polarized views on the re-imagining of Dante himself.

Anyways, Devil May Cry is set for release on January 13th, 2013. The trailer looked pretty slick so we'll see how the final game turns out. Need more info? Feel free to pay a visit to the Official Website.
