Final Fantasy V Coming To PS3 And PSP Via PSN

Square Enix is digging deep in the pockets of their retro library to bring old-school gamers and new-school RPG fans alike a remake of the classic game that bridged the story between Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy VI. That’s right, Butts and crew will face off against Exdeath once more in a revived Final Fantasy V.

As stated in the press release…

Players will experience all-new CG cinematic sequences exclusive to the PSN edition, and discover the early days of renowned FINAL FANTASY gameplay features including the Active Time Battle system, mini quests, magic summoning and much more.

Final Fantasy V was also the first Final Fantasy to introduce a very unique battle mechanic called the “Job System”, where players could assign a character a job that ranged from white magic to black magic or knight skills to ninjitsu. The cool part about the job system was that near the end of the game you could mix and match some job professions. Truly awesome stuff, especially the chemist set…that was such a unique skill set right there.

The game is currently in development for the PS3 and PSP and will be available via the PlayStation Network.
