North America won't have to wait too long to get Final Fantasy XIII-2. Square Enix revealed today that the role-playing game will arrive in that territory a mere month after it debuts in Japan.

"FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is slated for a January 2012 release for North America. Be excited!" tweeted Emily Shoji, an assistant PR manager at Square Enix. That'll probably earn her a few follows.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 takes place five years after FFXIII. Lightning, the hero from that game, has disappeared. Her sister Serah and a boy named Noel Kreiss embark on a journey to find her.

FFXIII-2 is being developed for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. The teaser trailer, which shows Lightning facing off against an unknown male, is below.
