Today NetherRealm Studios released the story trailer Injustice: Gods Among Us. It explains just why the world's super heroes have turned on each other.
The Joker pulls off a terrorist attack that kills scores of people. As a result, the country becomes a police state. While new security measures - including militarized police - may result in no future attacks, some begin to fear that this new-found security has a dark side.
The situation creates some interesting rifts and alliances. Batman, the apparent leader of the "rebel" faction, is teaming up with Green Arrow and other anti-authority types. He'll be facing off against Wonder Woman, Super Man and others.
The whole pseudo-9/11 parable might cause some people to roll their eyes. However, I think we can agree that this plot is much less shitty than most fighting games. It's also a lot less terrible than what I was expecting from this game's premise. My guess was that the story was going to involve alternate dimensions.
Injustice will hit Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U in April.
