The first Tuesday of September is here, which means it's time to take the month's first chug from the fountain of PlayStation Plus goodness, offering a refreshing dose of shambling zombies and a handful of discounts.

As we announced last week, Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection is joining the Instant Game Collection lineup, offering two games' worth of light gun shooting including Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

Originally released for the Nintendo Wii, these games have both been given a fresh coat of HD paint, as well as some additional tweaks and a full host of Trophies to unlock. Ideally, you'll want to play these with a PlayStation Move controller, pointing and shooting at the screen in order to pop headshots, collect ammo and gear, etc. Both games can be played with a standard controller, of course, it's just the less fun way to tackle these sorts of games.

The Umbrella Chronicles is an abridged retelling of just about every Resident Evil game known to man, offering players loads of familiar settings to shoot through as the story of the worlds most evil corporation unfolds. The Darkside Chronicles puts a heavier emphasis on Resident Evil 2, easily one of the best games in the series.

Both are included in this Plus package, though, meaning you'll get to blast your way through the entire Resident Evil storyline from a brand new perspective.

The rest of this week's Plus offerings are of the money-saving variety. First up is a tidy discount on upcoming platforming adventure game, Puppetter. Already a discounted offering at $39.99, Plus subscribers will be able to grab SCE Japan Studio's latest offering for just $35.99. This is a pre-order price, however, as the game is not launching until Sept. 10.

The same goes for F1 2013 and F1 2013 Classic, both of which are offering pre-order discounts. F1 2013 will be marked down from $59.99 to $53.99 for Plus subscribers with F1 2013 Classic, featuring additional premium content, will be marked down from $74.99 to $67.49.

And then there's KickBeat, the PS Vita/PS3 cross-buy title that mixes martial arts with a healthy dose of rhythm game mechanics, meaning you'll be tapping the buttons to the beat in order to punish would-be attackers. That one comes with a two dollar discount, marked down from $9.99 to just $7.99.

A couple of older titles are getting discounts, too. Zombie Driver HD, which was recently released on the Ouya, will be marked down from $9.99 to just $3.99 while Retro City Rampage will temporarily shift from $14.99 to $8.99.
