Continuing the current generation’s growing line of HD remakes and classic collections, Sony and developer Insomniac Games have officially announced a Dec. 5 launch date for the upcoming Resistance Collection, combining all three games in the series into a single, cheaper format.

Just in time for the holidays, Insomniac Community Lead James Stevenson dropped by the PlayStation Blog to announce an early December release date for the upcoming Resistance Collection. The series has become synonymous with the PlayStation brand over the past decade, being a launch title for the PlayStation 3 and having a spin-off title launch on both the PlayStation Portable and the Vita. Neither of those portable games are included in this collection, however.

The franchise kicks off during an alternate history version of World War II, when mankind must unite in the midst of war if they ever hope to survive an alien invasion. The game is a first-person shooter and, in typical Insomniac style, features some fantastically out of this world weaponry.

If you’ve missed out on the series thus far, the Resistance Collection will offer all three of the series’ console games, as well as some additional DLC from both Resistance 2 and Resistance 3.

To join mankind’s struggle against the Chimera invasion, keep your eye out for the Resistance Collection on store shelves starting Dec. 5 for 39.99.
