A new Transformers film will be released this summer and to no one's surprise it will be accompanied by a tie-in video game. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is being developed for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and 3DS.
The Dark video game serves as a prologue to the film. The Autobots and Decepticons battle it out in South American jungles, Siberian military bases, and - why the hell not - Detroit. The campaign is coupled with online multiplayer modes. Thanks to a new Stealth Force gameplay mechanic, Transformers will be able to change into a hybrid form with the firepower of their robot phase but the speed of the vehicle phase.
The PS3 and 360 versions of Dark are being prepped by War for Cybertron developer High Moon Studios. Behaviour Interactive is handling the Wii, DS, and 3DS editions. Behaviour previously created Transformers Animated for the DS.
The Dark of the Moon film hits theaters in the US on July 1st. The game is simply listed as "Summer 2011" for now but they'll probably try to release it as close to the film's debut as possible.
